Who We Are
LINC Twin Cities is a network of local churches that have joined together in a common mission to impact the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul with the love of Christ.
In February 2007 a group of Lutheran pastors, lay leaders, and representatives from the Minnesota South District-LCMS came together to discuss the great opportunities and challenges our church faces in reaching the urban, multi-cultural and ethnic diversity of our metro area. Out of this meeting a strategic partnership of local congregations and The Minnesota South District called Lutheran Inter-City Network Coalition was born, the purpose of which was to be a catalyst for creating new ministries in urban Minneapolis and St. Paul and to support urban ministry in existing congregations. LINC Twin Cities is supported by Minneapolis and St. Paul area congregations.
A Board of Directors provides governance and guidance for the ministry. We in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area recognize that we must not only stem the tide of urban congregation closings but also start new ministries in our most urban areas. In the next few months, we will be extending a call to an executive director.
As of September 2007 LINC Twin Cities became an RSO (Recognized Service Organization) of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. LINC Twin Cities is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organzation.
Our Vision
We believe that the church will multiply in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro Area among its different people groups and cultures:
• By planting new churches that multiply themselves rapidly and expand geographically.
• Indigenous leaders will be trained and each new group will be expected and equipped to plant another group.
• To be driven and carried out in a miraculous way by the awesome power of the Holy Spirit, just as He did in the book of Acts, just as He’s now doing in other countries.
LINC Twin Cities will accomplish the Vision by its continuation to:
• Grow in faith, not decrease.
• Be a relationship-centered ministry.
• Be an adaptive, front-line ministry.
• Be courageous in reaching out and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
• Plant holistic ministries that meet the needs of the community, while at the same time making disciples through Word and Sacrament.
• Be an equipping ministry by providing instruction from God’s word and helping people to deal with the challenges of life.
• Provide mentoring, internships, training programs and conferences for current and future leaders in God’s kingdom.
